Skip to main contentArtist Vera Weinfield will join Artspace’s Artist Programs Manager Alexandra Jane for a discussion related to Weinfield’s solo exhibition, Whatever Happened to Luba’s Twin?, on view at Artspace from Oct. 1 to Nov. 1.
A 2025 NC Emerging Artist in Residence, Weinfield explores the interwoven and malleable nature of family history and how stories are told by future generations. The artworks in the exhibition were created through a visual game of telephone between Weinfield and her mother, Joyce Block, with both passing and painting images of Weinfield’s grandmother, Luba, while simultaneously constructing and uncovering a family history.
Rather than a lecture, the artist discussion invites the audience into a shared, small-group conversation. Participants will take a careful look at Weinfield’s works, use visual thinking strategies to interpret them and discuss topics of legacy, history, family and memory.
The discussion is open to everyone, regardless of their knowledge of art or the exhibition’s themes.
